Getting Started

Welcome to Legacy! Let's get you set up.

5-Minute Setup

This guide will walk you through the basics of Legacy in just a few minutes.

1. Welcome to Legacy

Legacy is a secure platform for storing important files and designating beneficiaries who can access them when needed. Whether you're preserving family memories, managing estate documents, or organizing business files, Legacy keeps everything safe and accessible.

What makes Legacy special?

Secure Storage: Bank-level encryption protects your files
Beneficiary Management: Designate who can access your files
Time-Delayed Access: Control when files become accessible
Approval Workflow: You approve all access requests within 48 hours

How it works:

  1. Upload your important files
  2. Designate beneficiaries who can access them
  3. When needed, beneficiaries request access
  4. You approve the request (or it auto-denies after 48 hours)
  5. Beneficiaries receive a secure access code to download files

  • The file appears in your dashboard where you can manage it
  • You can add or remove beneficiaries at any time

⚠️ Important:

Free plan users can upload up to 2 files with a total of 100 MB. Need more? Upgrade to Basic (10 files, 1 GB) or Premium (unlimited files and storage).

4. Adding Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries are the people you designate to access your files. They could be family members, friends, business partners, or anyone you trust.

How Beneficiaries Work:

  1. You add beneficiaries when uploading a file (or later from your dashboard)
  2. They receive an email notifying them of their nomination
  3. They must accept the nomination before they can request access
  4. When they need the file, they request access through the Beneficiary Portal
  5. You have 48 hours to approve or deny the request
  6. If approved, they receive a one-time access code valid for 7 days

Beneficiary Best Practices:

  • ✓ Use their primary email address (they'll receive important notifications)
  • ✓ Add multiple beneficiaries for important files (redundancy is good!)
  • ✓ Include a personal message explaining why they're receiving access
  • ✓ Review your beneficiary list periodically to keep it up to date
  • ✓ Inform beneficiaries in advance that they've been designated

Managing Beneficiaries:

  • View all beneficiaries in your Dashboard
  • Add or remove beneficiaries at any time
  • See which beneficiaries have accepted their nominations
  • Track access requests and approval history

5. Understanding Your Dashboard

Your dashboard is your command center. Here's what you'll find:

🔔 Pending Requests
