Complete guide to uploading and managing your files
Legacy provides secure, encrypted storage for your important files. This guide covers everything you need to know about uploading, managing, and organizing your files.
Legacy supports a wide range of file formats:
⚠️ Restricted Files:
Executable files (.exe, .dmg, .app) and system files are not allowed for security reasons.
File size limits depend on your subscription plan:

Follow these steps to upload a file:
Navigate to Upload Page
Click "Upload Files" from home page or dashboard
Choose Upload Method
File Validation
System checks file type and size automatically
Add Details
Fill in title, message, expiry period (see next section)
Add Beneficiaries
Enter email addresses of designated beneficiaries
Upload & Encrypt
Click "Upload File" - progress bar shows upload status
Complete
File is encrypted and stored securely. Beneficiaries are notified.
Each uploaded file requires specific details:
Give your file a descriptive name that beneficiaries will see.
Example: "Smith Family Will - Updated 2024"
Add a personal message explaining the file's importance.
Example: "This contains important legal documents. Please keep them safe."
Choose how long to store the file:
View and manage all your files from the Dashboard:

You can edit file details after upload:
⚠️ Cannot Edit:
The actual file content cannot be edited. To update a file, delete the old one and upload a new version.
To permanently delete a file:

Files are automatically deleted when they expire. Here's how it works:
You can extend the expiry period at any time before it expires. Go to Dashboard → Select file → Edit → Choose new expiry period.
💡 Pro Tip:
Premium users can set files to "Lifetime" storage - they never expire unless you manually delete them.
